Ms Colwell joins BIC from the The Ebbsfleet Academy in the UK, where she has served as principal since 2013, and made a significant impact on the quality of learning and teaching in the school. OFSTED has singled out her leadership as one of the main contributory factors to the school's rapid improvement and ongoing success. She has a wealth of senior leadership experience in other UK schools, and takes great pride in the accomplishments of all the teams she has been a part of. She has been regularly asked to advise government ministers at the Department for Education on school improvement and raising standards. Ms Colwell holds a BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Sheffield, as well as the prestigious National Professional Qualification for Headship.
Currently working at Yew Chung International School in Shanghai, Ms Compton graduated from the Leeds Metropolitan University, England with a BA (Hons) in Education and went on to complete the Post-Graduate teaching qualification at the University of Bedfordshire with a Primary PGCE and Modern Foreign Languages. With an extensive international background and UK trained, Ms Compton spent her last three teaching years in Shanghai, China following 5 years of experience in Valencia, Spain. These experiences encouraged her to move overseas to Mallorca, where she looks forward to interacting with and learning from different cultures at Baleares International College, whilst enjoying her other passions for Sports and paddling in the Mediterranean Sea.
Ms Florey will join the ever increasing humanities department at the school and help deliver the BTEC qualification. A vocational course in "Travel and Tourism", this should highlight the many opportunities within this field in Mallorca. A graduate in the School of Asian and Oriental Languages in London, Ms Florey moved to Mallorca in December last year and is looking forward to embarking in this new stage of her career.
Mr Barter joins the school having been in Spain since 2014, first at the St. George’s School, Madrid and the International School of Madrid. A classroom practitioner with over 20 years’ experience, Mr Barter will be tasked with delivering this new and exciting course, offered for the first time at BIC. A graduate of the London School of Economics and with extensive leadership experience. Mr Barter is a very exciting appointment for the school.
Ms Mayes will support the English and Expressive Arts faculty at the school, delivering English and Drama to Key Stage 3. A former Head of Dance and Head of Expressive Arts in the UK, Ms Mayes will undoubtedly bring much creativity to lessons and the school as a whole. A graduate from the University of Buckingham, we wish Ms Mayes every success
Mr Warn will join our excellent Science department as the Lead teacher for Physics. A First-Class graduate from King’s College London, Mr Warn took the noble decision to join the teaching profession, qualifying in 2018. He was employed by this placement school, often a reflection of being held in high-esteem during training. An exciting appointment and one that will have real impact on the delivery of this subject.
