Nursery Starfish Class

In Nursery we have officially started our build me up, under construction topic weeks. We are going to explore the world of construction, including investigating different types of buildings and materials - machinery and tools and how we can build things ourselves. This week we enjoyed learning about real tools and having a go with how to use them. The children are learning about safety first rules and are trying to use and handle tools safely. I am really excited to give all children in class the opportunity to have some ̈hands on work ̈ activities and think that we will have an amazing few weeks ahead!

Reception Seahorse Class

Our first week of our second half term has started and with it bring our new Topic. Construction Crew! We have been working with the traditional tale The Three Little Pigs. We have retold the story and being discovering exactly why the little pig with the brick house stayed safe. We definitely have some future bricklayers and engineers in our class.

Year 1 Seals Class

With a new half term comes a new topic. So this half term we are focusing on “Icy Planet”. Learning all about the Arctic and Antarctic and their features. We have been looking at why they look so different to Mallorca and what makes them such an interesting and dangerous habitat.

We have introduced taking away in Maths. In particular using star stickers to make subtraction sentences. We have been making stories using either addition or subtraction.

We have also started coding on the laptops, learning to move a fish around using a simple algorithm.

Year 2 Turtles Class

It’s been a great start back in Turtles class! In Maths, we have started to look at addition and subtraction using a number square to help us and check our answers. Our new topic in English is Little Red Riding Hood, we have really enjoyed listening to the story, sequencing it and retelling it using a storyboard to make up actions and pictures.

Year 3 Dolphins Class

After a week off the Dolphins are back and ready to learn. This week in English we have been looking at non-fiction texts. Lots of the Dolphins enjoy reading non-fiction books at school and at home and here are some of their key reasons why.

They are Interesting and real, they contain facts and offer information. These books are not made up or invented and above all there are images and photographs rather than drawings. We also know that they have contents page as well as a glossary and Index.

In Maths we have been studying 3D shapes and their properties. Lots of fun describing, finding and hiding shapes.

Year 4 Jellyfish Class

What a wonderful week it has been meeting with families and sharing all of the children's hard work. The children have also been proudly and confidently sharing their work with the rest of the school, reading their incredible fables out loud to different classes, treating the classes not only to a fabulous fable, but also teaching others an important life lesson. Well done for your awesome hard work Jellyfish Class!

Year 5 Whales Class

This week in History we have been wondering what it was like to live in Viking times.

We imagined what a normal day would have been like for a girl, boy, slave, earl or craftsman and we wrote ‘A Day in The Life of a Viking’ diary entry for display. We are really proud of what we have produced and have also illustrated our work with Viking weapons and artifacts. Well done Wonderful Whales!

We are all happy to be back and after our Shark´s Cafe chat about holidays we are ready and raring to take on this term! Already we have started our new science topic of Evolution and Inheritance. We are keen to investigate cells, DNA and genomes. We are slowly gearing up for our performance for the winter show. We will be choosing our parts for our first ever BIC pantomime!

Catalan Class with Ms Maria

Spanish Class with Ms Campos

It has been a fantastic and fun week back to school! Our Seahorse class finalised their Spanish Pirates project with a mysterious treasure hunt. Our little pirates and Ms Sparrow found the treasure following all clues that Capitán Robatesoro left all around the school!
