Dear Parents,

As I write my last words as Principal of BIC I would like to express my most sincere thanks. It has been not only a pleasure but a privilege to serve as your Principal these past four years.

We have had many successes and I am encouraged as to the progress our students have made and wish those in examination years the very best when results are published in August.

Ours is a vibrant community, one where we celebrate the achievements of all our students. The End of Year Assemblies have been a true testament of the close-knit community we have here at BIC; some saying farewell to friends who are moving on to pastures new, and others showcasing the incredible talent we have at our school.

My congratulations once again to students who received awards during the annual Celebration Evening, we recognized and rewarded their academic achievement, attainment and effort this year. Our Reception and Year 2 classes have graduated, our Year 6s are looking forward to starting an exciting new chapter in their studies next year, and our Year 13 graduates are now eagerly anticipating the announcement their results and embarking on a new and exciting stage in the lives; we wish them the very best. It has indeed been a very successful year at BIC Sa Porrassa.

We also say farewell to some long serving members of staff who after many years of dedication are either retiring from the profession or returning to the United Kingdom. On behalf of the wider BIC community, my thanks to Shirley Beckett, Anita Baggaley, Christine Eastwood and Michelle Rouse, they have all been wonderful in their commitment to the school and the education of your children.

My own personal thanks to the vibrant and active parent community we have at BIC, one that does so much to support one another and in doing so, the school. You have all been magnificent.

We will welcome Alison Colwell in September and I am confident you will do so with the same generosity of spirit and kindness of heart you have always shown me and that I have always enjoyed.

I hope you have a restful summer and, until we meet again, my thanks for all the tremendous support and encouragement you have afforded me and my family.

Yours ever,

Duncan Giles

Principal, BIC Sa Porrassa

Celebration Evening Achievements

This wonderful evening allowed us to celebrate student attainment and progress, as well as effort. The evening gave our subject specialists the opportunity to praise those who have shown excellence in a particular field and gave the school a chance to showcase the artistic and creative talents of our students.

It has been an honour and privilege to work with such inspiring students, and we look forward to celebrating more student achievements for years to come. For those students who are moving on to pastures new, and our graduating students, we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours, you have made us truly proud.

Well done and congratulations to everyone!

Summer BBQ & Water Splash

What an afternoon full of laughs, music, food and Water Splash

This year we celebrated the end of the academic year with a water splash event on the last Friday before the end of term. There was lots of fun had by all whist splashing in the pool, taking part in the water games and bouncing on the pirate ship bouncy castle! There was also a delicious BBQ and paella amongst other fun and games for the students including some stalls that were implemented by our secondary business studies students.

The raffle prizes this year were incredible and we personally want to thank all those that so kindly donated these and made it possible to sell so many raffle tickets.

The last event at Christmas we raised money towards the school library and this year in light of recent events we decided to put money aside towards the Jones Family Fundraiser, a BIC family who as you are properly aware were involved in a serious car accident last week. You can view and donate to the campaign here: gf.me/u/tq6bia.

We could not have asked for a better event to celebrate the end of a fantastic academic year surrounded by people who over the years have become family. Thank you for all your help and for being part of so many fantastic memories.

Kind Regards,

Lauren Payet

Reception Class & Year 2 Graduation Ceremony

Reception and Year 2 Class have worked exceptionally hard through the year and were awarded their diploma during their graduation ceremony this week. Congratulations to all the students, we are all very proud of you!

Respect Weeks at BIC

As part of a three-week initiative, BIC students have been working hard to learn about respect, its meaning and importance in different languages and cultures. Everyone was able to express their ideas of respect and understanding of living in a multicultural environment.

With lessons based around kindness and tolerance, our students listened carefully to find out more about respecting each other, regardless of our differences.

Throughout these weeks each student has designed their custom Respect t-shirts, which they were able to model during our fun Summer BBQ last Friday. We are very proud of how our students and teachers have worked together to enhance respect amongst each other and after so much hard work, it was wonderful to gather everyone together to showcase the results on such a beautifully sunny day.

Year 1 Pirates Day

Year 1 had a day full of swashbuckling adventures on Wednesday. They started the day by using pirate stencils and paint to decorate our treasure bags. Not forgetting their amazing costumes, the shipmates then sailed away to the adventure playground where we all enjoyed some imaginative play before having some quiet in the shade reading pirate stories.

After lunch, we decorated cupcakes, that we really ENJOYED, before going on a treasure hunt! We followed clues around the school which let us to a treasure chest of pirate bubbles. What a great adventure!

Back in the classroom, we had a tea party before getting changed into our swim suits and testing out our pirate boats. It was important to check if they floated or sank! Finally, we enjoyed some water play! What a great day!

Year 2X Class Summer Party!

Year 2X celebrated the Summer Holidays with their special Summer Holiday Party. They danced the afternoon away, played musical statues and filled their stomach with a real party buffet! What a fun afternoon to end a great academic year!

Year 2X Water Splash Celebration

The Summer has arrived and this week our class 2X enjoyed a water play to help celebrate the end of year 2 and all the hard work that everyone has put into this year! Well done 2X, we are all very proud of you and wish you a wonderful and fun summer!

House Reward Meal Years 3 to 6

And the winning house for this academic year is… THE LIONS TEAM! The yearly reward for earning the most house points was a delicious lunch at the Bar Peculiar. As we can see the students thoroughly enjoyed their Fish and Chips!

Well done Lions!

KS2 Swimming Gala

During the hottest day of the year so far, our swimming gala stared with an anticipated cooling dip. The children were extremely excited to be competing against each other and show their swimming skills to the team! We saw very close contested races in all years and events, including swimming with the noodle, piggy back races, the longest dive and floats! Well done everyone!

A message for our Year 13 Students

Dear Year 13 Students,

We wish you all the best for the near future and good luck for the results day! We very much hope that all of you will achieve excellent results as per last years progress and hard work.

A special farewell evening was organised for the students and teachers, where we all enjoyed a delicious selection of tapas and drinks. It was a wonderful opportunity for teachers, the Principal, Head of Secondary and Head of Sixth form to wish everyone the best as they cross their bridge to fulfil their adult ambitions and life full of love and joy!
