With only one week to go before the end of the year, we have been very busy making sure our students remember their time at the school with fondness.
We were able to celebrate the achievements of our Secondary school students last Friday and this week we have had the Graduation Ceremony for our Year 6 students as well as those progressing from Key Stage 1 into 2. I would like to thank all the parents who attended these valuable and important events at BIC.
As I write, we are planning our Summer BBQ and hope that we can all enjoy this lovely end to the year together.
I will be leading the final school assembly on Friday June 28th at 12:00 and parents, students and staff are all welcome.
We would like to remind that Monday is a public holiday so no school. We hope you all have a wonderful long weekend!
BIC, Sa Porrassa
Celebration Evening 2019
Last Friday, starting at 6pm, we celebrated the many great achievements of our students during our Celebration Evening 2019 at the Calvia Auditorium.
BIC Sa Porrassa Principal, Duncan Giles was delighted to recognise and reward the achievements of our students.
This wonderful evening allowed us to celebrate student attainment and progress, as well as effort. The evening gave our subject specialists the opportunity to praise those who have shown excellence in a particular field and gave the school a chance to showcase the artistic and creative talents of our students.
It has been an honour and privilege to work with such inspiring students, and we look forward to celebrating more student achievements for years to come. For those students who are moving on to pastures new, and our graduating students, we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours, you have made us truly proud.
Well done and congratulations to everyone!
Year 13 Graduation get together
After the last A Level exam, our Year 13 students invited the teachers and BIC Principal Mr. Giles for a small farewell get together. At the Graduation gathering last we celebrated the hard work that our students have all put in throughout the course. We spent a casual warm summer afternoon enjoying a few tapas and some drinks at ZEN.
Year 4 trip to Alcudia
We spent an amazing day in Alcudia where all children had a wonderful time. We spent several hours in the Ciutat de Pollentia exploring the remains of the residential quarter, forum and theatres of the ancient Roman city in Mallorca. The children happily answered all questions and made some amazing sketches of what they saw. It has been a great learning trip where they explored the Romans topic and enabled them to experience first hand what they have been finding out about life in Roman times.
To finalise the exciting trip, we all enjoyed a delicious ice cream. We would like to express a huge thank you to the four parent who helped us in supporting the children.
Year 6 - "The Next Big Step" Production
This week Year 6 showed parents and teachers just how much they are looking forward to their 'next big step', moving up to Secondary School next academic year. There was laughter, tears and smiles from staff, pupils and parents filling the room to a fantastically delivered performance from all of the Year 6´s.
What a great way to end their time in Primary. We are so proud of the children and how much they have grown and developed here with us at BIC and look forward to seeing their successes and bright futures.
Huge thank you to all the staff that put in so much hard work to create this wonderful show and well done to all our Year 6 students for their admirable dedication to making sure this was an assembly to remember.
BIC Cycling Club Awards
At the weekly BIC Cycling Club, students have passed their bronze and silver cycling awards! Following British Cycling guidance, students have grasped excellent bike handling skills (Bronze award) or are now ready to race (Silver Award). In October, BIC Cycling Club will be organising a car free ride for students and parents. They will also have the opportunity to buy a BIC cycling jersey at the start of the term.
Year 5 & 6 trip to La Victoria
The excitement already started while waiting for the bus that took them to La Victoria. The children had sparkles in their eyes when they saw the beautiful scenery and the canoes waiting for them in the sea. The children enjoyed a day full of orienteering while exploring the surroundings and made the most of the sea by canoeing, swimming and splashing in the water! They also learned how to climb up the climbing wall, how exciting!
As you can see, students and teachers had an amazing time at La Victoria!
Respect Week at BIC
It has been a week long initiative at BIC! This week our students have worked hard to learn about respect in different languages and cultures. Our students have continued preparing the “respect t-shirts” and presented to everyone during our Summer BBQ! It has been a very enjoyable week where all our students have worked together to show and enhance respect amongst each other!
Year 2 trip to the Garden Centre
Year 2 enjoyed exploring the Viveros Sa Porrassa garden centre taking a close look at the Cactus and a variety of plants including the tropical greenhouse area whilst enjoying the guided tour. We learnt a lot more about plants and trees as part of our topic “plants” and our exciting plants project.
A big Thank you to Sofia and her Mom!
Sofia and her mom gave us an incredible surprise this week! They came in on Thursday and donated the school a Full Sized Yamaha P-35! A big Thank You to Sofia and her mom for such an amazing present!
Year 1 Pirates day Preparation
Year 1 have been busy preparing for their special pirate day next Wednesday. This week, we listened to sea shanties whilst we made pirate figures, and designed pirate ships which we will test on the water next week. Next Wednesday the children will come to school all dressed up, will be painting treasure chests and finally we will be going on treasure hunt! We are so excited and all prepared for our special Pirates day!
Friendship Week at BIC
At BIC we continued with our Friendship week. Following last weeks success, we have used our parachute to help us understand how to work as a team. It is extra-large so we really had to follow instructions to get the parachute go very high!
Secondary trip to Paris
This week a group of our secondary BIC student embarked on an adventure to explore beautiful Paris, visiting the wonderful and inspiration city.
Our students were able to not only discover the city, but also learn about the history, artistic flair and impressive architecture. We all had a great time and most importantly expand our knowledge of one of the most famous cities in the world!
