This unique opportunity will allow your child to experience world-class coaching and train in one of the world’s top football facilities, and also meet and develop friendships with other Orbital school students as well as other students from around the globe.

There are two fantastic programmes available:

City Football Performance Programme (1 week, 4thAugust - £1227)

This is an intensive 5-night football training programme for players aged 8-17 and takes place at Manchester City’s world-class training facility, the City Football Academy. Delivered by City Football School coaches and specialists, the programme gives players the opportunity to experience how City’s teams strive to play beautiful football, and how professionals optimise their training sessions to earn a competitive edge.

The summer school is for both boys and girls and is split into two age groups 9-13 and 14-17 to ensure that the training levels are age appropriate. At the end of the programme, players will take away a personal evaluation with valuable insight into their current performance, and a development plan to improve their individual game as they return to their school or club.

City Football Language School (2 weeks, 7thJuly - £2695)

This 2-week summer school enables students aged 12-17 to develop their English language as well as their football skills in a fully aligned and interactive programme, where the primary focus is to improve communication skills and develop confidence both on and off the pitch.

Alongside the football training, English language sessions draw on interactive technology to make learning an enjoyable and memorable experience. In 30 hours of off-pitch learning, players will improve English communication skills by completing a dedicated journey through the world of football, discovering life as a player, a manager, an analyst and a journalist.

Booking

Q: What age group can attend the summer schools?

A: The City Football Language School is open to boys and girls between 12 – 17 years old and the Performance summer school is open to boys and girls between 8-17 years old.

Please note that students must be within the relevant age restrictions to register for the school and that students whose age is outside of the above age limits cannot register. Students need to be the relevant age throughout the duration of the summer school to register.

Q: My son is just outside the relevant age for a particular summer school. What can I do?

A: Unfortunately, your child has to be of the relevant age throughout the duration of the summer school.

Q: Where are the residential summer schools based?

A: The residential soccer camps have their training take place at the City Football Academy, the brand-new world-class training ground where Manchester City’s First Team, Women’s Team, Elite Development Squad and Academy teams train daily. Residential accommodations take place at Peel Park Quarter, University of Salford.

Q: What type of visa do I require?

A: Visa requirements change all the time, please contact your local Embassy for the most up-to-date information about traveling to the UK.

Q: What happens if I don’t get a visa in time?

A: It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that they leave enough time for the visa application process. No refunds will be issued on the grounds of any individuals not being able to obtain a visa.

Q: Do I need insurance?

A: Insurance is not provided by the school. It is the responsibility of the adult paying for your summer school to source travel, accident & health insurance for your trip.

It is mandatory that every player has insurance to cover such events as summer school cancellation or curtailment, loss of personal effects, loss of passport or tickets, medical expenses and repatriation, personal liability and personal accident. If you do not have an adequate insurance policy and an incident occurs, you will be responsible for all costs incurred.

Q: Are flights included in the price?

A: No, all flights must be booked by the paying adult separately.

Q: Are the airport transfers included in the price?

A: No, however airport transfers are available from Manchester airport for £8

Q: When is the closing date for a place?

A: All applications need to be received by the 1st December 2018. However, as places are limited they may become full before this date. It is recommended that you confirm your place as early as possible so to not be disappointed

Q: How do I secure my place?

A: A non-refundable deposit of £325 is required.

Preparation

Q: What is the residence like?

A: you will stay in high quality, single ensuite rooms at the Peel Park Quarter, University of Salford, with WIFI available and a coach ride away from the City Football Academy.

Q: What does full accommodation include?

A: Single rooms with private ensuite bathrooms at Peel Park Quarter, University of Salford.

Q: Are meals provided?

A: All meals are included in the cost. You will eat breakfast and dinner at the Salford University residence and lunch will be provided daily at Connell College. All meals are hot except for packed lunches that are provided on weekend excursions.

Q: My child has to follow a specific diet for health reasons. Is it possible?

A: If your child has any special dietary requirements, if you did not mention it when you registered online, please inform us as soon as possible. Most diets can be catered for by prior arrangement.

Q: My child takes prescription medication – should I inform you about this?

A: Yes, please be sure to indicate in the online application form any medication that your son/daughter is taking or if he/she is following a treatment. We will update the medical staff at the disposal at the summer school who will follow your son/daughter. It is important that we receive accurate information about any pre-existing medical conditions your child may have. Should you not have already informed us of a medical condition when you registered online please do so as soon as possible. Please note that the school accepts students on the assumption that they are in good health. If your child needs to bring any medication with them please give us full information about dosage, time to take the medication and storage information.

Q: What do I need to bring with me to camp

A: You can find a list of what we recommend children bring with them (see final page)

Q: Do campers receive a football kit?

A: Yes, students will receive City Football schools and Nike training kit to keep.

Q: Is a laundry service available?

A: Yes, the residence provides laundry facilities and you will be required to wash your own clothes. Washer and dryer costs are approximately £2.00 each. There is free laundry provided for the washing of your City training kit.

Q: How much pocket money will they need whilst on the summer school?

A: All travel, food, accommodation, kit and summer school materials are included in the cost. You will need to bring extra money if you wish to buy any souvenirs or additional items when on excursions. The amount you bring depends on how much extra you wish to buy, however we suggest bringing approximately £100 per week.

Q: What do children do at the weekend on the 2-week language summer school?

A: Children staying two weeks will be able to go on weekend excursions on the Saturday and Sunday. This will include a trip to the National Football Museum, as well as visit an exciting location outside of Manchester, such as Alton Towers.

During your stay

Q: My child is attending on his/her own; will he/she be ok?

A: Yes, most players attend without friends and family. Individuals will be placed in groups with players near the same age who are also on their own. The first session of every summer school is designed to help all individual players integrate to form a team and make new friends.

Q: Can I visit my child during the camp?

A: Parents can visit their children at the residence at Salford University if arranged previously with the Centre Manager. Parents can also ‘sign their child/children out’ if they wish to once a week.

Q: Can I stay on site with my child?

A: There is no accommodation for parents on site but there is plenty of local accommodation nearby.

Q: When can I phone my child?

A: Students are not allowed to use their mobile phones during training, classes, or any activities. Your child will let you know the best time for you to contact him after his camp session has started. Contact details for the campus will be provided to you a few weeks before the summer school starts in the welcome email packet.

Q: What are the telephone numbers for the campus?

A: Camp telephone numbers will be provided in your welcome email packet a few weeks before the start of camp for registered campers.

Q: Is there anybody supervising the participants during the night?

A: There is camp staff on site 24 hours per day.

Q: My child is participating for two weeks in the Summer School: will the staff take care of him / her during the transition period between one week to the other?

A: For campers in the two-week sessions, there will be staff staying with the children during the weekend between the two weeks.

Q: What languages do the coaches speak at camp?

A: The summer schools are taught in English only. For many years, we have had participants coming from all over the world and a lot of them do not speak English but acclimate very well to the camp as there has not been any language barrier in the past.
