This has been an exciting couple of weeks at BIC Sa Porrassa; we have confirmed the appointment of our new additions to the Modern Foreign Languages Department, had another successful 'Friends of BIC' lunch and our students are off to Andolo, Italy for the BIC Ski Trip.
I hope you will find this newsletter useful and wish you all a very pleasant Half-Term break.
Please note that we are currently selling tickets to our BIC Parent Talk, led by Tricia Taylor on March 14th, available from our school reception, or online.
BIC Sa Porrassa
New Staff at BIC
Madame Laurence Rieg joins the school to deliver French Language to both Primary and Secondary students.
Señor Martí Martorell will now deliver Catalan across Primary and Secondary. A graduate from the Universitat De Les Illes Balears, Señor Martorell is also a qualified teacher of Physical Education.
I am sure you will join the school in wishing them a warm welcome and successful future at the school.
Friends of BIC @ Sakana
Over 20 BIC parents joined us for this monthly lunch, held this time at Sakana in Palmanova. These lunches are a great opportunity for parents to get together, share common interests and also welcome those new to the school.
The next lunch will be held on 15th March at La Oca in Port Adriano.
Year 5 Trip to the Mallorca Observatory
Year 5 spent a fantastic day at the Mallorca Observatory (OAM) recently, learning more about space and the stars.
They were lucky enough to view the surface of the sun through a specialist telescope. The children couldn't believe they were really looking into space! They also enjoyed a very informative IMAX video inside the planetarium, explaining the evolution of the Earth in our Solar System followed by a fascinating talk on meteorites. Amongst other interesting things, they learned that all living things are part stardust. Who knew!
