Gemma Austin - Head of English

Ms Austin has always loved literature, language and learning and gained a BA (Hons) in English and American Literature from the University of Kent. After graduation, she worked with schools and young people in the public and charity sectors before completing her secondary PGCE in English at Goldsmiths College, University of London (where Ms Colwell also gained her teaching qualification). Having worked at an inner-city London school with responsibility for key stage 3, Ms Austin then became Head of English at an international school in Bangkok, Thailand. Working with students from different backgrounds and cultures inspired Ms Austin to study for an MA in Comparative Literatures and Cultures at the University of Bristol. She is looking forward to joining the BIC community and sharing her expertise, as well as getting to know the rock climbing spots across the island.

I am so happy to be joining you at Baleares International College, and I look forward to getting to know you all!
