Currently Acting Head Teacher at Virgo Fidelis Convent School for Girls in South London, Ms Tomlinson graduated from King’s College, London with a BA (Hons) in Classics and English and went on to complete a PGCE in English at King’s School of Education. She has spent the majority of her career working in highly successful grammar and Catholic schools in London. She is married to a Spaniard, and makes the move to Mallorca with her family to reconnect with Spanish culture, whilst bringing her experience of excellence and success from a UK educational background to Baleares International College. She hopes to bring to the students, alongside her passion for inspirational learning, her love of opera and classical music and theatre, her interest in classical civilisation and her enjoyment of sport and the outdoors.

Ms Austin has always loved literature, language and learning and gained a BA (Hons) in English and American Literature from the University of Kent. After graduation, she worked with schools and young people in the public and charity sectors before completing her secondary PGCE in English at Goldsmiths College, University of London (where Ms Colwell also gained her teaching qualification). Having worked at an inner-city London school with responsibility for key stage 3, Ms Austin then became Head of English at an international school in Bangkok, Thailand. Working with students from different backgrounds and cultures inspired Ms Austin to study for an MA in Comparative Literatures and Cultures at the University of Bristol. She is looking forward to joining the BIC community and sharing her expertise, as well as getting to know the rock climbing spots across the island.

Mr Fairless qualified with a 1st class BA (Hons) degree at Edgehill University and completed a PGCE with Manchester Metropolitan University, and went on to gain an MA in Education. He is currently leading an autistic resource provision within a school in a multicultural area of Manchester, UK, and has worked in primary education for many years, originally starting out as a teaching assistant. Mr Fairless has felt blessed to have had the experience of working with so many people all over the world during his teaching career and is truly excited by the prospect of meeting more international students at Baleares International College. Mr Fairless and his husband have had a shared dream of moving to the Balearics for a long time and are looking forward to immersing themselves in the Spanish culture. Not wanting to make his move too easy, Mr Fairless will also be bringing his piano! He is also looking forward to indulging his passion for cooking with beautiful ingredients found on the island, and learning more Spanish.

Mr Cruttenden is currently working at Taunton School, England, where he is Head of Classics. A love of learning has always been with Mr Cruttenden - he graduated from the prestigious Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University with a BA, then went on to gain a PhD in English Literature. He completed his teaching qualification at Durham in English and music. Mr Cruttenden has been a Head of English and Assistant Head in several UK state and independent schools, before spending the last 8 years as Head of Classics in Taunton, a school which has a very strong international dimension. This led him to make the decision to move with his young family to the diverse cultural environment of Mallorca.

Mr Lafferty was Head of Economics and Business at St Julian's School near Lisbon, Portugal. Mr Lafferty graduated in Economics and History from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, before going to work for the former Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills in Westminster. Following this he had a career in the civil service and private sector before moving into teaching, training in inner London. He is exceptionally keen to meet his new students, and to enjoy all that Mallorca has to offer, especially cycling, diving and the food.

After a decade working in business management in both the Middle East and Australia, Mr Kingston-Bray moved back to the UK in 2013 where he graduated with a BA(Hons) in Outdoor Adventure Education before completing his postgraduate teaching qualification in Computer Science with the University of St Mark and St John in Devon, UK. For the last 3 years he has been teaching at King Edward VI Community College, Totnes, Devon in the UK and is moving to Mallorca with his wife and children (plus young dog and ancient cat). When his family are not keeping him busy, Mr Kingston-Bray can usually be found outdoors, where he loves climbing, paddling and adventuring.
