Welcome back to School

Dear parents,

It is great to be back at school and we have enjoyed hearing all about the children ́s adventures over the holiday period. A warm welcome to all the new families who have joined this term across the school. Their new “class buddies” have taken pride in showing them around and helping them during this first week.

Each term we have a charity focus and this term our charity is Save The Med (originally Ondine Association). Over the past years we have worked with this organisation to develop our pupils knowledge about environmental issues - particularly in and around Mallorca. At the end of the term we will be holding a Science Week with an environmental focus which will culminate in a local beach clean. Please do get in touch if you would like to be involved with our Science week or raising awareness and funds for our focus charity.

A reminder that children must be in the correct school uniform at all times. Our Director of Sports Mr Fitzpatrick has been developing a lovely new sports kit for BIC which we will reveal details of shortly.

Next week on Friday the Spanish team will be celebrating the festival of Sant Antoni so remember all children can bring in a toy animal to be given luck and protection!

All the best,

Ms Millar

Nursery Starfish Class

Firstly, I hope all of you have enjoyed your holidays! In Nursery Starfish class we have gotten straight back in, working hard on our letter recognition and formation. The children are starting to link sounds with things and practise pointing them out throughout the day, wherever we go. Did you know all Starfish are now also holding their pencils the correct way almost all the time!. We have also been very excited to welcoming Isla into our class.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Reception Seahorse Class

What a great week back! The children were very excited to receive their very own golden ticket on their return to school this week. This ticket will take them on a trip around our planet and beyond this term for our new topic “Globtrotters”

We have started planning where we would like to go, it seems that The North Pole is the first place they would like to visit.

Year 1 Seals Class

We have had a very busy week this week! We have started our new topic of Human Body and so this week we have been learning a new sense each day. We talked about our sight and what it would be like to be blind. We did a smelling test. Smelling various foods and products and trying to describe and guess them. And then we did a taste test. We tried 4 foods and introduced words like ‘sour’ and ‘savory’. I think chocolate was the most popular.

Year 3 Dolphins Class

The Dolphins have started this awesome new year with a bang! We have shared the following books ‘Squirrel's New Year Resolution’ and ‘ Grace for President’ to talk about about our goals and targets for 2020. It was lovely to see the children setting themselves resolutions but also how they can help others too.

Just a little selection;

“I want to make my sister laugh”

“ Spend more time with my family and friends.”

“Don't forget to say goodnight to my mum and dad and to solve problems if I fight or argue”

“To learn more things”

“Do more wow words in my writing”

Spanish Class with Ms Maria

¡Buen viaje!
