The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE):

IGCSEs are international qualifications developed by Pearson Edexcel and the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). At Baleares International College, the IGCSE is typically taken by 16 year-old students, at the end of Year 11. These are external examinations. This means that the examination papers are sent to the school by Edexcel and Cambridge and are then returned to them for marking and grading by an official body. The results are announced in August. IGCSE is a highly respected and internationally recognised qualification.

The students will all study English Language and Literature, Spanish, Mathematics, Double Science and Global Citizenship in addition to core PE (Physical Education). They also have optional subject choices which include Art and Design, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Computer Science, Drama, Music, Business Studies, Physical Education GCSE, German, and French. Spanish Nationals are also required to follow Catalan.
