Welcome to the Academic Year 2022-23
Dear families
Welcome back!
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday and spent time with family and friends over the hot summer. Everyone seems to be waiting for it to cool down slightly, but despite the heat the children seem to have had a wonderful time, as they have been telling me all about the fun things they have been doing.
We have had a super first week in school with the children settling down very quickly. I am so proud when I walk around the school to see the children involved in so many different kinds of activities and to see the positive relationships they are already building with their teachers and support staff. Smiles are abundant and the school is buzzing already!
During the summer, various works have been carried out, including a new classroom, extending the Nursery classroom, updating the dining room, fencing the Pine Tree terrace and converting it into a usable space for Early Years outdoor play and development.
We have welcomed many new children of all nationalities to our BIC Sant Agusti family this week – our numbers have grown, which is fantastic news, and we will soon be starting waiting lists for some classes which is amazing! Having slightly larger classes means that the children have more friends, as well as a wider choice of friends and enables the teachers to plan activities which really get the children involved in teamwork, discussion, and challenges. We still remain a small school and pride ourselves on being “the small school with a big heart”.
We extend our welcome to Ms Golden, who has returned to Sant Agusti to teach Year 4, Miss Marina who is an addition to our Spanish / Catalan teaching team , Miss Rachel who will be a Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 2 and Mr Tom who will be our lunchtime supervisor.
We are really keen to start a Parent Teacher Association and already have a group of parents who are looking to establish this soon. Parents are an important part of our school community, and I would encourage those of you who have some time, even a little, to join in with the Parent Teacher Association and become involved with events – it´s fun too! It´s also a good way of parents making new friends!
We have some good news to share:
Congratulations to Miss Izabella, our Sports teacher, who got married in the summer holidays.
Congratulations to Mrs KB on the birth of her son who takes his place as the youngest member of the KB family!
This is an exciting time to be part of BIC Sant Agusti; we are looking forward to this new academic year and wait to see what adventures lie ahead. I am happy that you are joining us on our journey. Thank you for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend,
Warm regards
