Welcome to Baleares International College, Sant Agustí

Baleares International College, Sant Agustí (BIC Sant Agustí) is the only international, English-speaking school in Mallorca that exclusively offers a British education through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stages 1 and 2, for children aged 3 to 11.

Founded in 1957, we have been providing local families and expats with the best of British education ever since. We provide a nurturing, close-knit community environment where children can learn, play and grow in English.

We also offer a strong Spanish language programme to help pupils connect with the local culture and prepare them for the Spanish secondary education system, should they wish to join it. The programme also enables pupils to develop confident bilingual skills. From Year 2 onwards, we offer Catalan, and our language programme is further strengthened by the option of studying French and German.

Set in a charming, villa-style building that was originally a hotel, BIC Sant Agustí has excellent facilities for early years and primary-age children. These include large, brightly lit, well-equipped classrooms, as well as specialist facilities for sports, music and art. There is ample space in and around the school for children to learn and play safely, with designated play areas for different age groups.

Students enjoy lunch in the spacious dining room, which boasts sea views. The school makes good use of the local environment for activities such as swimming lessons at the local sports centre, the nearby forest, sailing club and beach.

The best of British education

The international British curriculum offers personalised teaching, supporting every child’s learning style and developmental needs. This nurturing, highly individual approach helps children develop confidence and independence, as well as a love of learning. Our ethos is founded on kindness, curiosity, and mutual respect, allowing everyone to feel heard, seen and valued. This level of pastoral care ensures that a child's needs are met, guaranteeing that lessons are engaging, purposeful and appropriately challenging.

Our pupils enjoy a wide range of opportunities outside the classroom, including sports, music, digital learning (including online safety), leadership and creativity. Our House System fosters teamwork and a sense of community, bringing together children of all ages to collaborate on shared objectives and celebrate achievements together. Our sailing and Forest School programmes bring learning to life in inspiring real-world environments.

Parents choose BIC Sant Agustí for its robust British curriculum and strong accreditations. It is the only school in the Balearic Islands to be inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), the UK government’s Department for Education's sole accredited inspection body for British Schools Overseas (BSO). The school is also accredited by NABSS and COBIS.

Above all, parents choose BIC Sant Agustí because it provides an environment in which their children can thrive. Here, they can enjoy their childhoods away from screens, supported by qualified primary teachers and native-speaking specialists. Our school is a place where children enjoy learning, and this is the best foundation parents can give their children.

Our Vision

Our vision is to empower our international community of students to embrace learning and achieve their personal best, while focussing on their personal, social and emotional wellbeing in a positive and welcoming environment.

We prepare our students for all stages of their education as well as equipping them with high aspirations for their future lifelong learning.

Our Mission

At Baleares International College, Sant Agustí, we aim to grow and develop the students’ enthusiasm for learning, skills, knowledge, self-esteem and resilience. We seek to achieve these aims through the delivery of a broad and balanced programme of study, with an international dimension, based on the National Curriculum of England. Our students will be happy, safe, and challenged in their learning with a strong emphasis on pastoral care.

Our students will develop good learning habits, a strong sense of responsibility, independence and respect for others. They will be encouraged to reach the highest levels of achievement in their studies and we will celebrate and recognise their efforts and successes.

Our school community is expected to be kind and respectful of others irrespective of gender, race, faith or nationality. We will empower and prepare our students with the skills needed to contribute to, and be successful in, a global society, whilst respecting the importance of their own culture.

We believe that a partnership between students, teachers, administration and parents will enable all individuals to become valued members of the school and other communities. Our students will develop a strong sense of pride in their school and in their belonging to their school family and will support local communities and charity projects.

We celebrate and promote global internationalism and individual diversity. Our students will embrace the opportunities offered by living in Mallorca, and celebrate its language, culture, traditions and history. They will also value the languages and cultural identity of all fellow students and their families.

The school will ensure that the students are provided with an holistic educational experience that celebrates the unique talents and passions of individuals, developed through a range of extracurricular activities and opportunities provided by digital technology.
