EAL and Language Programmes
We never forget the value of your child’s cultural diversity. In addition to the core curriculum, we provide an extensive Languages Programme to offer native language lessons throughout the school for Spanish and German, all of which are delivered by our specialist native-speaking teachers.
We also deliver a comprehensive English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme, delivered by highly-qualified and experienced specialist teachers, which fully supports the English language development of our non-native English speaking students.
Spanish Language Programme
All our students learn Spanish from the age of three and are taught by qualified Spanish teachers at the appropriate level. Spanish teaching across all Key Stages includes Spanish as a Foreign Language and Spanish for Native Speakers.
German Language Programme
This programme is a special feature of the enhanced curriculum at Baleares International College. Students study German at their appropriate level and are taught by qualified German teachers. Sa Porrassa also offers a specialist language programme for German native speakers.
French Language Programme
All our students learn French at their appropriate level and are taught by qualified French teachers.
English as an Additional Language
The EAL programme operates across all Key Stages and at different levels to cater for a student´s individual needs and requirements. New students are assessed on arrival at the school to determine their level of English and are grouped accordingly.
Both my husband and I moved to the Island from the UK just over a year ago not knowing which school to move our children (age 14 and 11) into. Prior to our move we booked to visit three different schools so we could get a good feel of what was available. As soon as we walked into Baleares International College we knew this would be our chosen school. It had the exact feel and atmosphere you expect for your children in their tender years of growing. My children have grown and flourished over the last year and we know we have the school to thank for this.Emma Armstrong, Year 6 and 10 parent
