Welcome back!

Dear parents and families,

I hope everyone had a lovely half term holiday and managed to spend some time with family and friends. It is so important at this time of year, as one season gives way to another, that we give ourselves time to think about families, friends and ourselves. We need to make sure that we have the right balance for our wellbeing and for our mental health. In school we have been looking at balancing scales of wellbeing, ensuring we have what we need and what we want, and that they are in the right balance. Some very interesting discussions have taken place about needing and wanting and the difference between them!

It is known that many people prefer the light and warmth of the summer instead of the cold and dark of the winter. Living on this lovely island, we can be lulled into a false sense of security at times, thinking that everything here is warmth and light. Unfortunately, as we know, this is not always true and next week the children will be having informative talks by the local police about keeping safe. Although this is a topic which is covered in school, having outside visitors talk about it gives it extra importance. As the nights get darker earlier, our children need to be safe, so please spend some time talking to your children at home about safety, so the message from school and home is the same.

We are looking forward to a great half term ahead with many events already being planned. Please check the Noticeboard so you have advance notice of these events. There will be lots of fun, lots of special events and lots of learning!

Have a lovely weekend

Warm wishes
