This is the end of the School Year!

Dear parents

It seems a little unbelievable to be writing this message because this means that it is the end of the school year! Everyone keeps saying that it has been a very different year, which is certainly true after spending half the school year in lockdown the year before.

When I started this academic year last September as the incoming Principal, it was important to ensure the safety and security of the whole school community as well as keeping the family spirit of Sant Agustí, “the small school with a big heart”, as I often refer to it. We have had some ups and downs along the way, as we all found our way along the path, but I am very proud of everything which has been achieved by all over the last year. BIC Sant Agustí is about for the development of the child as a whole and every single one of our children has developed, not just educationally, but in so many other ways too. Sometimes we need a time of reflection to realise just how far they have come, especially in this challenging year.

In the last month we have had two visits, one from COBIS (Council of British International Schools) and an inspection from NABSS (National Association of British Schools in Spain). It is a little unusual to have two visits in such a short time, but restrictions meant delays, so we decided to have both visits close together.

I am delighted and extremely proud to say that the outcomes of both visits were very positive about most aspects of the school, with some very helpful recommendations to help the school to move forward. The inspectors were positive about the teaching areas and the excellent displays. They reported that the good standard of health, safety and welfare of the school community is evident and the children’s use of English is excellent. Staff and pupil relationships are excellent and the school instils its values of respect, compassion and independence. Teaching is good with some being outstanding and staff have high expectations of the children. Children’s behaviour and attitudes to school and to learning are excellent. There is an excellent team spirit.

I would like to congratulate the whole BIC Sant Agustí team of children, staff and parents – to receive reports like this at the end of this year has been absolutely amazing, highlighting the professionalism and dedication of all those involved. A huge thank you to all the staff and the children who have made this year a very memorable one; well done everyone!

We are all now looking forward to a relaxing holiday before we see everyone back again in September.

Have a super summer with family and friends!

Warm regards,

Mrs Short
