Dear families,
I hope that you all enjoyed a restful Easter break, despite the somewhat British style weather!
As we are a short week, we are not sending you the normal newsletter, which will resume next week. I do, however, want to send you my wishes for another great term of school. The summer term in a school is always an especially busy one. We are as ever focused on high quality teaching and learning, academic progress, and your children's wellbeing and enjoyment of school, whilst we simultaneously look towards the next school year, finalising the curriculum, planning the timetable, and thinking about practical arrangements that we may need to put in place. We remain confident that many of the restrictions we have had to manage may well be relaxed, but of course we plan for every eventuality.
We also look forward this term to more inter-House competitions and to our sports day in June. Our Year 11, 12 and 13 students are fast approaching the exam season, but through our discussions with them we have been very impressed by their attitude to their studies and their hard work, such that we are very confident of further success in these very important GCSEs and A'levels. Walking around lessons this morning, I feel so glad to back at school, seeing our students quietly focused in their English lessons, diligently persevering with tricky maths challenges, carrying out exciting experiments in science, excelling on the sports field. It is wonderful to see their level of engagement, and to feel a sense of wellbeing and enjoyment that is almost tangible.
Here's to a fantastic summer term ahead.
Kind regards
Alison Colwell, Principal
