Welcome back to school 2022 - Message from the Principal

Dear families,

Happy New Year and a warm welcome to 2022! I hope everyone had a festive New Year!The children have had fun looking at that huge number this week - 2022.

I can remember very clearly being part of the celebrations for New Year’s Eve at the turn of the Millenium, standing on Westminster Bridge in London watching “Big Ben” strike midnight, wondering what a new year and a new millennium would bring. It certainly does not seem like over 20 years ago! Those years and the last couple of years have brought so many changes to the way we live, not only with the onset of technology and world wide travel but also bringing restrictions which many people thought were unheard of. However, with the turn of the year, it is always time for reflection and a time for hope for the future.

In school we will continue to look at wellbeing for our whole school community. This is one of our focusses this academic year and we are holding a parent workshop on children’s wellbeing next week, so come along and join us! Many of our lessons and events are connected to wellbeing and mindfulness, working with the children to build their resilience, their empathy towards others and to be aware of the world around them. Our children certainly have a voice in the school and give regular feedback and ideas on such issues. They understand the importance of the future and how they can have an impact on their future and that of others.

I am sure many of you have made New Year’s resolutions …..I hope not too many of them have already been broken! This year a worthy resolution would be to spend as much time as we can with family and friends, ensuring our children have the best start we can possibly give them….by giving them our time. Our children certainly are our future.
