BIC Sa Porrassa continues to lead the way on the island for outstanding academic success as we celebrate the superb results achieved by our students in their recent A’ level exams.

This year’s A (and AS) level results have been outstanding, with Year 13 students achieving a 100% pass rate and an amazing 60% at the top grade of A*/A (40% at A*).

Amongst the best performing students were Anna Ciudad Sadykova who achieved four A*s and Maria Shaposhnikova who achieved 3 A*s. Maria has turned down two medical schools in the UK to study Medicine at UAX in Madrid, whilst Anna is still awaiting confirmation at medical schools in Madrid. Karla Kallentoft achieved three A*s and one A and she has accepted a place at Kings College, London, to study International Relations.

Ignacio Diaz, who has been at BIC since he was six years old, achieved two A*s and two As; he is going to study aeronautical engineering at Delft University in Holland.

Vivien Ruth, Head Girl, achieved two A*s, an A and a C; she is taking a gap year to gain business experience. Santos Alcover, Head Boy, has accepted a place at Leeds University in the UK to study banking and finance. But we are proud of all our students, who have all worked extremely hard to get their grades and we wish them all the best of luck in achieving their next ambitions.

With A’ levels remaining the gold standard in the post-16 education worldwide, Principal Alison Colwell said,

In what was an incredibly challenging year for everyone, it makes the tremendous success of our young people all the greater. It proves that with a combination of hard work, determination, steadfast support from home and outstanding teaching nothing can get in the way of success! We are so proud of what they have achieved, which means they now move to the next stage of their lives with confidence, self-belief and no limits to what they can do.”

With academic excellence being one of the reasons parents choose our school, the successes of this summer have yet again set high expectations for our incoming cohorts. We look forward to continuing to inspire, stretch, challenge and support all our students throughout their time with us.
