We believe that a partnership between students, teachers, administration and parents will enable all individuals to become valued members of the school and other communities.

BIC operates an 'Open Door Policy' and if a parent feels there is a particular matter which needs to be discussed with a student's tutor, Head of House, Head of Department or member of the senior leadership team including the Principal, we kindly ask them to contact the school reception to make an appointment.

We want to make it as easy as possible for parents to get hold of us, so there are a number of ways you can get in touch. Below we outline the key communications channels, with some advice on the method you should use depending on why you're getting in touch.

Good communication is important to us!

Telephone or E-mail

The preferred means of general contact as we can keep a track, forward etc. as appropriate to communicate between home and school and for notifying Reception of lateness or absence – including if you are going to be late for pick-up.

Facebook

For social updates and school news. Not for contacting teachers or notifying us of anything relating to your child.

Induction for new families and social events

New parents and students are invited to an ‘Induction Morning’ early in September before school begins. During the Induction Morning, parents and students will have the opportunity to meet the team of teachers, enjoy some refreshments, get to know fellow parents and make new friends.

New parents/guardians are invited to one-to-one meetings with teachers after school to see how the students have settled in after the first few weeks.

A social ´Welcome Event´ takes place for all parents and students during the first term of every academic year. This is a wonderful opportunity for all families to meet each other outside of the school environment.

Newsletter, Weekly Noticeboard & Website

The BIC newsletter contains information about what has been happening in school. Forthcoming events and dates as well as our latest news are posted on the school website so please check this weekly.

The Weekly Noticeboard is sent every Friday afternoon outlining the important dates of events and activities planned at school for the coming weeks ahead.

Parent Workshops

We are delighted to invite parents and families to a variety of workshops throughout the academic year across both of our BIC schools. These workshops cover a wide range of topics and give parents useful advice about how they can support their child's progress and learning at home. These workshops are also a fantastic opportunity to explore the learning strategies and methods used in school to allow our students to develop their independent learning skills.

During these sessions, parents are able to answer any questions they may have and share their ideas.

The timings, form and content of these events vary but we hope you will take advantage of them. More details will be provided closer to each event.

Canvas (Virtual Learning Environment)

Baleares International College has a whole school online learning platform called Canvas. Canvas streamlines digital tools and content used by teachers and students, for a simpler and more connected home learning experience. This enables us to provide access to learning, information and home learning for all students throughout the year.

Your child will be given their own login details for Canvas which allows them to access course information. Once your child has been given a password, please do not change their password and keep their password safe. If you would like to view or support your child's online learning, please go to:

learning.orbital.education

You will see the login interface below:

Click on Staff or Student and use the login details provided to your child in order to access your child's subjects, home learning and assignments.

If you experience any technical issues please contact it.support@balearesint.net.

Meet the Teacher - Parents' Evenings

All parents are invited to meet the class teacher at the beginning of September. This is an opportunity for parents and teachers to get to know each other, for teachers to explain routines and outline some of the work that the class will be covering during the year.
